Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY)

HIPPY - Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters - is a parent involvement and school readiness program that ChildServ has been implementing in Chicago communities, for over 16 years. The program offers home-based early childhood education for three, four and five year old children, working with their parent(s) as their first teacher. Family Educators support the parents in their interactions with their children through home visits. With their help, the parents work with their children using carefully developed materials, curriculum and books designed to strengthen their children's cognitive skills, early literacy skills, social/emotional and physical development.

Communities Served: Humboldt Park, Lawndale, Austin, West Englewood

Participants Served: 122

Outcome: 100% of the program's child-graduates are eligible for kindergarten.

HIPPY parents are learning . . .
